It was my turn to host my International Suppler Club for dinner. So far my hosts have served me French, Scottish and food British people like to eat: Indian.

Before the evening arrived I emailed the ladies and told them that when visiting a Swede at home one must never wear their outside shoes, inside. I suggested bringing your favorite slippers, those pumps that have never touched the ground, and let them know I’d have extra slippers on hand too.

With a glass of bubbly in one hand we toured the house, another Swedish tradition, before settling down to enjoy nibbles.

The menu included Swedish meatballs, elk salami, red beet salad, Scandinavain potato salad, dill potatoes, gravad lax with hovmastare sauce, herring, liver pate, toast skagen, cheese, and crispy bread.
